It feels so great to have your son celebrate his birthday. It’s such a great feeling that a son is growing. He is gradually becoming a man. Remember when he just came out that he couldn’t do anything for himself. Now he is becoming a voice. Even if he is just a boy, seeing your boy grow comes with so much joy and enthusiasm that a copy of you is finding expression and is growing in the land of the living.
As he crosses into another year, it is a good thing to celebrate with him with some prayers. And as the spiritual oversight over your son, you have the power to dictate what happens in your son’s life. Apart from morning blessings for your son, a special day like his birthday should be an opportunity to bless him from the depth of your heart. This prayer will mean a lot to your son too. At least that you care about his well-being and future.
Before you begin to bless your son with prayers, it is important to thank God for the journey so far because it can only be God. Lamentations 3:22-23 explains that it is the Lord’s mercy that has been helping us so far. We need to appreciate God for that. The verse added that it is new every month. That can only be God. From birth to whatever age he is celebrating is not something that happens just like that. God made it happen. That is where the prayers ought to start!
Powerful Prayer Points for my son
May the Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob bless you and keep you. May He cause His face to shine on you all the days of your life in Jesus’ name. By mentioning the name of God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, you are invoking the blessings of Abraham on your son too. As you celebrate another year in the land of the living, this will not be the last in Jesus’ name. (Numbers 6:24-26)
You will need to pray for your son to know God and experience Him. This is one of the best prayers that you can ever pray for him from the depth of your heart. Even Paul says that “I may know Him” despite his exploit in the kingdom. So the prayer will look like this, “may the Lord grant your remarkable encounters to know and experience Him in ways you will never forget in Jesus’ name.” This prayer point is important. (Jeremiah 1:5)
Another important prayer would be one that will make him know his purpose. When God told Jeremiah that he was made and born to be a prophet, God brought him into an awareness of his purpose on earth. So also, your son must be prayed for that God will reveal his purpose for his life. “May God grant you the revelation that will show you what God has called you to be and to do in Jesus’ name.” May this revelation be a clear and understandable yarn to your spirit in Jesus’ name. (Psalm 16:11a, Ephesians 2:10)

The essence of knowing the purpose of God is not for knowledge’s sake but that one would fulfill it. Therefore, it is key to add to your list of prayers for your son that God will help him to fulfill His purpose for your son. The prayer may sound like “May the Lord grant you everything that you need to fulfill the will and purpose of God for your life in Jesus’ name.” God, grant my son a birthday gift that will contain all that he needs to be what you want him to be in Jesus’ name. (Ephesians 1:17-20)
Son, may you flourish like a palm tree planted by the riverside bearing fruits in due season. May your life flourish with results in Jesus’ name. As you grow, grow in grace and results in Jesus’ name. Your life will not just be one of the lives on earth, God will use it to achieve kingdom goals in Jesus’ name. Son, you will prosper in all that you lay your hands on in Jesus’ name. (Psalm 1:3)
For a younger son that is yet to meet with God, I mean a son that has not given his life to Christ. Such must be preached to and admonished to come to the Lord Jesus Christ. If he is small (less than age 7) or old enough but yet to respond to the salvation of God, then a prayer for God’s visitation to reach out to him is essential. Prayer must be made to secure his salvation even as you preach to him.
Lord, Just as you encounter Paul on his way to Damascus, let there be an encounter that will make him surrender totally to You. God, please show yourself to my son and let him be meet with you. Please let there be a great reconnection with you in a way that will live him to surrender all for you in Jesus’ name. As he grows, let it be practically impossible for him to miss you in Jesus’ name.
The Bible says Jesus grew in wisdom, stature, and in favor with God and man. If this is true of Jesus when He was on earth, it means it is needed by men. Lord, let my son grow in wisdom, stature, and in favor with both men and You in Jesus’ name. Let my son experience this as he grows year in and year out in Jesus’ name. Let my son not miss out on these dimensions of growth in Jesus’ name. (Luke 2:52).
With these prayer points, not only will you celebrate your son’s birthday, but you will also secure the life of your son in prayer. This is a great birthday gift worth more than any physical gift you may gift him. Only that you ensure that these prayers come from within your spirit so that it can bless your son indeed. Prayers become effective when it comes from the deepest part of your spirit.
