Pastors serve as an intermediary between God and people. They teach, guide, advice, discipline, and pray for the people of God. Though Pastors are spiritual heads and they pray a lot for the congregation, they also need to be prayed for.
This is because they are humans with needs as well. In his second letter to the Thessalonians, Apostle encourages the church to pray for them being ministers. Let’s take a look at the prayers you can pray for Pastors.
- The first prayer point can be gotten from 2 Thessalonians 3:1, Apostle Paul encouraged the congregation to pray that the word may spread rapidly through them. Lord, please bless the word of God in the mouth of our Pastor in Jesus’ name. Lord, let your word in His mouth be magnified and honored in the name of Jesus.
- Lord Jesus, the work of ministry grow and expand in the hands of our Pastor. As he makes effort to grow the congregation, let there be an increase in his harvest and work in the kingdom in the name of Jesus. Lord, you say the harvest is plenteous, let our Pastor experience this plenty harvest in his ministry in the name of Jesus.
- Proverb 11:25 says he that waters other people will be watered. Lord, as our Pastor caters for our well-being emotionally and spiritually, let his life not be left unattended to in the name of Jesus. Let everything concerning him work out for his good in the name of Jesus. Lord, let him be watered beyond his imagination in the name of Jesus.
- Father, we pray for the safety of our Pastor in the name of Jesus. We come against every satanic and evil plan against him in the name of Jesus. Your word in Isaiah 54:17 says no weapon against him shall prosper as a heritage because he is your servant. Lord, honor this word in his life and ministry in the name of Jesus. Let every weapon formed against him come to naught in the name of Jesus.
- Lord, we ask for more grace and anointing for our Pastor in the name of Jesus. So, that he can bring us in-depth riches of the word from you and help us to grow in you, please increase his anointing in the name of Jesus. Let there be an overflow of your anointing on his life and ministry in the name of Jesus. For our Pastor, let there be great grace to function effectively in each of your expectations for him in the name of Jesus.
- Father in this stewardship of souls and mystery of the kingdom committed to our Pastor, help him Lord to be faithful in the name of Jesus. I Corinthians 4:1-2 says that faithfulness in stewardship is of the utmost importance, please help him in every way to be faithful so that he would not fail in his purpose in the name of Jesus.
- As it is written in Zechariah 13:7 to strike the shepherd so that the sheep can scatter, Lord we come against every satanic agenda and evil plans to attack our Pastor in the name of Jesus. Let all attacks on the Pastor be rendered none effect in the name of Jesus. Let him and his household be safe in you in the name of Jesus. We commit all that is important to him into your hands Lord, please watch over them in the name of Jesus.
- Lord, please train his hands and heart that he may lead us the right to the direction you want us all to go in the name of Jesus. Psalm 78:72 he fed them according to the integrity of his heart and by the skillfulness of his hands. Lord, help our Pastor, take him deeper into you and grant him spiritual skills that he may make us what you want us to be in the name of Jesus.
- Lord, the Bible says you give strength to faint in the book Isaiah, therefore we pray that you give him strength so that he will not be weary and tired in this journey as a Christian and as a Shepherd. Grant him strength in the name of Jesus. For every area of his life where he is weak, Lord please grant him strength in the name of Jesus. Let his youth be renewed in him in the name of Jesus.
- Father, grant our Pastor the wisdom needed to shepherd us in the name of Jesus. Your word says wisdom is paramount in Proverbs 4:6-7 and in James 1:5-6, the Bible says you give wisdom to anyone that asks. Lord, we ask for wisdom for Pastor in the name of Jesus. Enrich him with wisdom for his life and service in the name of Jesus.
- Father, we pray that you help our Pastor in times of temptations in the name of Jesus. We know that devil is out there roaring like a lion seeking whom to devour, please help and keep our Pastor just the way you help Joseph during his temptation in the name of Jesus. Grant him all the knowledge, wisdom, and discernment needed to avoid and overcome temptations whenever it come in the name of Jesus. Lord, please help him to be watchful!
- In Psalm 35:27, the Bible says you delight in the prosperity of your servant and according to 3 John 2, you said you wish above all that we live in health and wealth. On the basis of this scripture, we make a request for divine provision for our Pastor in the name of Jesus. Let all his needs be divinely met in the name of Jesus. Let him not lack anything worthwhile for his ministry and life in the name of Jesus.
With these prayer points and more, you can reach out to God on behalf of your pastor. And as you do this, God will reach out to you too because he that waters shall be watered. It is a divine principle and God cannot do otherwise because it is His word.
