Powerful Prayers to Thwart Every Evil Plot of the Enemy (Plus Bible Verses)
As we grow older, we start making plans for the future. We make plans to have a good education. We make projections to acquire that dream job and career. We map out the ideal location we’d love to settle in and build a home. We have a picture in our heads of our dream home and our dream car. We even have the exact specification of how our dream partner would look like and how we’d settle down with them in our dream home to build the perfect family and then live happily ever after.
These are the standard plans of every human on earth. However, so many times we hear the common phrase: “Things did not go as planned.” Why is that? Why is it that no matter how well we set out to do things right to achieve our desired results, there is always something or someone or an occurrence that upsets the normal course of events and makes the outcome look like the best laid plans of mice and men?
The first thing we need to consider as children of God is, what is God’s plan for us? When Jesus was teaching His disciples how to pray, one of the things He taught them to say was “Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven,” (Matthew 6:10, KJV ) This tells us that no matter what our plans may be, we can only bring them to fruition if these plans align with God’s will concerning us. Without the understanding of weaving our plans around God’s will for us, we might as well be going around in circles like the Israelites roamed the wilderness for forty years as punishment for their disbelief, (Numbers 14:26-35).

Sometimes we may want something so badly that we worry if God will endorse or approve of our plans. Other times, we are not sure if we will love the outcome of those plans God has laid out for us. The truth is, a divinely endorsed plan will always exceed our human expectation. The Scriptures say in Jeremiah 29:11; “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you saith the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you an expected end,” (KJV). This gives us confidence that God knows what is best for us. We can also look at 1 Corinthians 2:9 which says, “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him,” (KJV). This is the assurance that our Father in heaven knows how to throw us a surprise party with the perfect gifts as the icing on the cake. Likewise in Ephesians 3:20 which says, “Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.” There is indeed no reason to fear that we will not be content with the outcome of our plans when they are aligned with God’s will for our lives.
The second thing we need to consider is The Adversary. The bible describes him as, “the accuser of our brethren”, (Revelation 12:10). This adversary also takes his job seriously because he accuses us day and night! He takes no breaks and no holidays. This sounds scary right? Wrong! Not if our plans and expectations are without the stamp of heaven’s approval. This is why it is very important to enter into a water tight covenant with our heavenly Father. For each time the Accuser pops up with a reason for you not to get what you desire, you render his accusations baseless with your proof in God’s Word.
Who is this adversary, and why is he so preoccupied with bringing us down?
The Bible makes no mistake in describing who our adversary is. The Book of Revelation tells of a certain war that broke out in heaven. In chapter twelve and verse seven of The Book of Revelation, we read about the archangel Michael and his angels fighting against a certain dragon. The identity of that dragon is revealed as “that old Serpent,” also called “the Devil” and “Satan.” The very serpent who deceived Eve in the garden of Eden and the very satan who deceives the whole world. Michael and his angels prevailed against Satan and won the war. Satan was cast down to the earth and sea.
In Revelation 12:12-13, we see the reason for his attacks and accusations. He carries with him, “great wrath.” He is like that big bully in high school that would never pick on someone his own size. He can’t return to heaven because he has been banished. Besides this fact, Michael is always waiting to teach him a lesson or two before sending him right back to earth. So he remains on earth to persecute mankind. This is why the Bible tells us that “we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places,” (Ephesians 6:12 KJV). So many times, we as Christians make the mistake of seeing our fellow human as the enemy. This is a common misconception. Rather, it is Satan who preys on the negativity existent in that human and then uses this person to project his evil intentions on you.
A good example of how Satan works through humans would be in the case of Stefan and Jonas. They are both colleagues working in the same department in a multinational company. They are both due for promotion to a top managerial position. Jonas is aware that Management is most likely to consider Stefan for the position because he is more diligent on the job. He is always punctual to work and his people’s skills is top notch. Also, Stefan has taken the liberty to acquire some set skills through online courses that could enhance his capacity to perform better in the new role. Jonas is envious and bitter about the edge Stefan has over him. So he begins to plot ways to upstage him so that the attention of the company’s management is diverted toward him and not Stefan. Satan sees the intentions of Jonas and moves in swiftly. He uses the negative emotions in Jonas as an opportunity to set Stefan backwards. Satan capitalizes on Jonas’ envy and bitterness toward Stefan and begins to feed Jonas with evil ideas on how to bring his colleague down. Stefan begins to notice that Jonas is quick to oppose his views and ideas at staff meetings. Jonas even goes as far as gaslighting Stefan so that he begins to lose confidence in himself and in his capabilities. Stefan begins to see Jonas as an opponent or an enemy whereas the truth is Jonas is flesh and blood. He is a mortal. He is not the real enemy. Satan is. Satan is the evil power and principality controlling the emotions of Jonas.
Stefan needs this promotion badly and that is why he has done his best to ensure that he is most eligible for the new position. Yet management is undecided on who to pick for the job because Jonas has been busy sabotaging his colleague and making him look incompetent. When you find yourself in a similar predicament as Stefan, how do you pray to cancel every evil plan of the enemy in your life successfully?
Here are a set of powerful prayers to cancel the plan of the enemy in your life so that your life’s path is made plain for you to succeed.
- Dear Father in heaven, I bring my plans before you. I ask that you bestow me the grace to know if it is your will concerning me. I pray for your will to be made manifest in my life. I refuse to waste precious time by moving around in circles. I ask for the Holy Spirit to order my footsteps and guide my path, in Jesus name.
- Lord, I know that the plans you have for me are good. I stand upon your promise to me that you will always bring my thoughts and my plans to an expected end. My expectations shall never be cut off in Jesus name.
- I enter into a covenant with you this day, oh Lord. Every single thought process that makes up this plan is signed and sealed as a divine blueprint with the blood of Jesus. No evil counter plan of the enemy can destroy it because I carry the seal of the Lord’s approval.
- According to your word in Colossians 2:15, you have blotted out and erased every ordinance that was against me to fail. You have cancelled everything that worked contrary to my success. You nailed my failures and frustrations on the cross when you paid for my victory and my success and my peace with your precious blood. You defeated powers and principalities for my sake and gave them a public disgrace. Therefore, I take liberty in your redemption to succeed at everything I do. This is why I know that my path is clear for me to run and finish strong with this plan.
- Lord, without you I am nothing. That is why I run to you for strength to see this plan through according to your word in Philippians 4:13 which assures me that “I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me.”
- I am confident in your word concerning me in John 10:10. Even though the devil which poses as the thief of my happiness may try to kill, steal and destroy these plans of mine, I have you as my ally. Lord Jesus, I know that at the mention of your name, every knee must bow including that of the devil. Every evil power must bow and concede to your will for me. Your will for me is to give me life and provisions in abundance. I claim it in Jesus mighty name.
- Lord protect me from any human the devil may use as an evil vessel to get to me. May they never come near me. I stand by your word in Psalm 91. I dwell in the secret place of the most High. I abide under the shadow of the Almighty. No evil can ever find me there. Surely, my God will deliver me from every trap of the enemy. No matter how many adversaries gang up against me, no matter how close they may be to me or no matter how vulnerable my position may be, I rest upon your promise that they will never come near me. Only with my eyes will I observe the reward of their failure.
Thank you Father for answering all my prayers, for I pray them in the mighty name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
