Prayers Against the Spirit of Procrastination

Procrastination is a such a cunning thief of time that it always tricks us to think that it’s okay to still postpone that assignment from school till the last minute or draft that proposal for work until the day it’ll be urgently needed or finish that highly motivating book we’ve planned to finish reading in just a week; when in the actual sense we have just been whirling away our precious time in which we could’ve used for other more productive ventures.

procrastination

When procrastination sets in, it makes us idle away and the consequence of this is that we are not able to attain our full potential and miss a lot of opportunities that would’ve taken us to a better level in our lives.

Procrastination delays not only our time but our blessings; hindering us from reaching our target on time and does not bring out the best in us. However, the word of God in James 1:5 is reassuring and the Lord told us that we should ask of him whatever we need the wisdom to overcome and it shall be given to us. Therefore, let us start applying the scriptures and pray against every spirit of procrastination in our lives.

  1. Refuse To Be Sluggard:

“The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied.” (Proverbs 13:4) Heavenly Father,

I thank you for my life and all you’ve been helping me with up till this present moment of my life. I’m glad that I can find solace in you and that your word is my guiding light. Knowing now that the souls of the slow ones who procrastinate will remain poor and those who are diligent will be blessed and rich; I pray that you help me to overcome every spirit of procrastination in my life in Jesus’ name. Lord, I want you to uproot every stem of procrastination that is making me put my works aside instead of doing them on time and be more productive. Make my soul become diligent and prosper in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

  1. Pray to Do Away With Laziness:

“The hand of the diligent will rule, while the slothful will be put to forced labor.” (Proverbs 12:24).

Dear Lord,

I believe in your words that the lazy soul shall be put to forced labor because he has procrastinated during the time he was supposed to work. I refuse to be subjected to forced Labour in the mighty name of Jesus. Lord, I seek that your eyes be upon me today and make me fulfill all that I have set out to do. I pray that you help me destroy by fire every procrastinating factor in my life Jesus name. Lord uplift me and give me strength whenever I start feeling lazy and postpone the work I ought to have done at the moment to later. Aid my soul to not be slothful in Jesus’ name. Amen.

  1. Pray For “Do It Now” Ability:

“Don’t put it off; do it now! Don’t rest until you do.” (Proverbs 6:4)

Dear Father,

For your words have come unto me that I should not put off what I should do now till later. I, therefore, pray for the “Do It Now” ability to be bestowed upon me now in the mighty name of Jesus. You are the mighty God; your name is above every other name and therefore I declare in your name that every root of procrastination in my life is seized and destroyed right now by the power of the Holy Ghost. I refuse every spirit of delay and every factor of procrastination hindering me from maximizing my full potential in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

  1. Pray For Focus:

“Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.” (Proverbs 4:25).

Dear God,

I pray humbly for the spirit to stay focused on whatever work I am doing and never be distracted in Jesus’ name. Father, help me to overcome every spirit of distraction in my life by the power of the Holy Spirit in Jesus’ name. From now on, I will receive the ability to start my work and never bulge to side attractions and the spirit of procrastination in the mighty name of Jesus. I receive the power to stay focused and maximize my potential through the strength of God which enables me in Jesus’ name. Amen

  1. Committing All Works To God:

“Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.”(Proverbs 16:3).

Dear God,

I humbly commit all my works unto you; let your divine spirit abide by me all the time in the mighty name of Jesus. Anytime the spirit of procrastination wants to set it and hinder me, let the fire that surrounds me consume it in the mighty name of Jesus. For I have committed all to you; Lord let my thoughts be established and make my resolve stand firm to not put what I can do now till later in Jesus’ name. Thank you Lord for you are the all-knowing and all-powerful God; the beginning and the end and the God who never fails. I am grateful that you have uprooted the stem of procrastination and destroyed the fruits of delay in my life and work. May your name be forever glorified. Amen.
