Discernment is an art of knowing right from wrong, good from bad, divine from demonic, light from darkness, true from false, Godly from evil, and physical from supernatural. It is the Godly wisdom given to His children to supernaturally know and exclude demonic or satanic influences.
Without this gift in operation in one’s life, it is possible for us to embrace enemies in place of friends. Discernment is key in our Christian journey which is the reason you must pray for it until it is given. Without it the Christian walk will be a tough struggle and ministry will be base on satanic influences. So, we must arise and seek the spirit of discernment. Sometimes, it is the operation of this spirit that tell if you will live the next moment. Hence, below are the prayer points you can pray through to get discernment operational in your life;
Before we raise prayer points for discernment, it is important that we know a little bit about the operation of discernment. In order to distinguish between truth and lies, fake from original, divine from demonic, etc the Holy Spirit uses signs, signals, promptings, feelings, etc to pass this message from our spirit. If you are able to pick up these messages and interpret them accordingly, then you have just exhibited discernment.
Prayers for God to give you the Spirit of Discernment
- Father, I ask that you help me to be sensitive in the spirit in the name of Jesus. I need your help to be spiritually sensitive in all ways and at all times. Please help me my Lord and Savior in the name of Jesus. If you can help John to be sensitive irrespective of the pain he was going through and he could still take messages to write the book of revelation, please help me too Lord.
- Father, as you speak to me through signals for me to be able to discern things, please help me to catch the signals and the understanding thereof in Jesus’ name. Let all the signals that you send to my spirit make meaning to me as you use them to help me in discerning things, people, and situations as the case may be in Jesus’ name.
- Lord Jesus, activate my spirit for easy communication with you Oh Lord. Let my spirit be sensitive for instructions from you in the name of Jesus. Activate the inward part of me for directions, instructions, and guidance in the name of Jesus. Holy Spirit, activate my spirit for easy communication in the name of Jesus. Let my spirit synchronize with the Holy Spirit to activate discernment in Jesus’ name.
- Father, I pray that you educate my spirit to detect and understand all spiritual signs in the name of Jesus. Let me not overlook or underrate spiritual signs by any means in the name of Jesus. Lord, please let my spirit be fully educated about these spiritual signs. Holy Spirit please help me in this regard in the name of Jesus.
- Holy Spirit you give to men gifts as you will, please give me the gift of discernment. Holy Spirit, please enhance my life with the gift of discernment that I may know the right path always in the name of Jesus. Father in accordance with your word that we should ask and it shall be given, I ask for the gift of discernment, please give me in the name of Jesus.
- Father in the name of Jesus, grant me a divine understanding of spiritual matters. Lord, please grant me understanding, as you speak to me, let me not miss out because of a lack of understanding of spiritual matters in the name of Jesus. Grant me in-depth understanding as you grant me insight in the name of Jesus. Only by the understanding of spiritual matters I can relate with the spirit of discernment, please help me in Jesus’ name.
- Father, I pray that in all my activities and work for you, let me not be without discernment in Jesus’ name. Let discernment not be scarce in my life in the name of Jesus. And where it matters the most, let not discernment fail me in the name of Jesus. Jesus, I beg you that as I navigate through life, let discernment not be missing in my life in Jesus’ name.
- Father, as I catch the signs, signals, and prompts of the Holy Spirit, Lord help me with the knowing of the messages embedded in these promptings, signs, and signals in the name of Jesus. Help that the discernment will be helpful for me indeed in the mighty name of Jesus. Not only that the discernment will be helpful for me but it will be the furtherance of the kingdom in Jesus’ name.
- Lord Jesus, let the spirit of discernment be added to my life in the name of Jesus. Let the spirit of discernment work with my spirit as I navigate through my work with you and for you oh Lord. Let the spirit of discernment become a part of the spirit released for my ministerial assignment in the name of Jesus. Jesus, please assign the spirit of discernment to join my life and ministry in the name of Jesus.
- Father, as I discern things, people and situations, help me with wisdom to take appropriate steps in the interest of the Holy Spirit in Jesus’ name. The essence of the discernment is for appropriate steps to be taken in the interest of the kingdom of God. Help me Lord so that the gift of discernment will not be a waste in my life in the name of Jesus.
